Video: Mulching With Seaweed: An Excellent Fall or Winter Gardening Activity

I enjoyed watching your video. Nice to see some local people from NS. I have only did this once many moons ago. Need to do it again. Wished I’d thought of it on these past fine warm days we had. Did think of going to the beach but not for seaweed. How long before this breaks down and compost into the garden soil and would it be O.K to add now…beginning of March? Oh…what about adding to the compost bin. I have two of them for my kitchen scraps, etc.?
I look forward to some other spring videos from you.
Sorry Erika, just reading this now. Adding mulch in late winter/early spring actually serves to insulate the ground, and actually prevents it from warming up, so I hope you didn’t go that route 🙂 If you have no mulch, wait till mid-late may before adding; otherwise, fall is the time for mulching in my opinion. Hope that helps! -g
